What is an appeal?
An appeal is when you apply to a higher court to review and reverse the decision of a lower court. The requirements for pleading and filing an appeal differ from state to state and may depend on other factors such as the type of underlying case that is being appealed. An appeal can be made to a higher court all the way to the highest state level court such as the New York Court of Appeals or up to the US Supreme Court.
