Leaving the Scene of an Accident in Manhattan Charges Dropped

Our client who allegedly struck in an accident while he was driving a for-hire vehicle was arrested for allegedly leaving without exchanging proper information or waiting for the police. This is a misdemeanor in New York and carries up to a year in jail and a permanent criminal record. When client came to see us, our client had a different lawyer who was recommending that he plead guilty but this would have caused immigration and other problems for our client. We took the case and fought it for several months and ended up getting it completely dismissed because the prosecutor made a procedural error and we made a motion to dismiss.
