Possession of stolen property case dismissed in Brooklyn
2017
Lance’s client was arrested for allegedly possessing stolen license plates on an automobile in Brooklyn. The NYPD is very aggressive about this due to a common crime where people use different plates to dodge tickets and/or insurance issue. After being arrested and released with a desk appearance ticket for criminal possession of stolen property, pl 16540, our client contacted us. We discussed ways to get the case successfully resolved – specifically about ways to avoid jail and a criminal record. We went to court on the arraignment date and subsequently, we noticed that the Brooklyn prosecutor failed to file a legally sufficient complaint in court and were able to get the charges dropped and the matter sealed.
